Schleuniger is in the Spotlight! One of APA’s latest equipment investments is the Schlenuniger MegaStrip 9680M. We recently purchased it for our Headquarter in Hampshire, Illinois. And we’re excited about it! This machine provides high-precision processing for complex, heavy-duty cables. It ensures high-speed, precise cutting and stripping, while minimizing waste and maximizing productivity and efficiency.
The MegaStrip 9680 is capable of cutting and stripping wire, multiconductor, and shielded cables with diameters up to 35 mm (1.38″) and cross sections up to 120 mm² (4/0 AWG), or optionally up to 300 mm² (MCM 600).
This machine can process wires with cross sections ranging from 1.5 – 120 mm² (16 – 4/0 AWG), or optionally 240 – 300 mm² (MCM 500 – 600), through a multistep stripping process. It manages shielded cables with efficiency and complex multi-conductor applications in a single automated operation.
Featuring the SmartBlade system for quick changeover, the MegaStrip 9680 is available in two modular machine designs, offering a broad processing range for larger diameter cables. The “M” version includes a freely programmable multiblade cutter head, while the “MR” version is equipped with an additional rotary incision unit for precise shield cutting. Both models are compatible with CAYMAN cable processing software and CAO planning software (Manufacturing Execution System).

APA’s solar panel installation project was completed in their Hampshire, Illinois Headquarters in December of 2024. Since then, APA has produced 106 megawatt hours of energy. This is equivalent to 164,884 pounds of CO2 emissions saved or 187,145 miles driven. Now, that’s a lot of conserved energy, and it’s only been the first year!
To put our solar panel installation in perspective, the CO2 savings are equivalent to the annual carbon sequestration of about 3,435 mature trees. Based on the industry average, a single tree absorbs approximatly 48 pounds of carbon dioxide every year, which amounts to 164,884 pounds of CO2.
Beyond the environmental benefits, APA’s solar panel investment is lowering operational overhead costs, proving that sustainability and profitability can operate hand-in-hand.
This first-year milestone is just the beginning. APA continues to look for ways to optimize energy efficiency even further and explore additional renewable energy technologies. Our Team here at APA is grateful for today and excited for the future!

8/2025 • APA officially flipped our final switch on solar panels at our last remaining location in Hampshire, IL. Now, all APA locations are officially producing renewable energy.
Since our initial solar project several years ago, solar panel technology has evolved. These new panels have bi-facial sides that enhance energy efficiency by capturing light reflected off the ground or roof on the reverse side of the panel.
We’ve observed the benefits of solar panel technology at our sister facility in Duluth and anticipate its advantages in all our locations, especially with light-reflective snowfall in the winter months.
This new system is expected to provide all APA locations with over 100% energy offset, allowing us to return excess power to the grid. We’re excited to have completed our final solar installation at our last building, and we’re looking forward to an even more energy-efficient future.

5/2025 • APA Receives YMCA’s Champion’s Award
LED Rite, LLC. an American Precision Company, was an honoree at the BR Ryall YMCA Fourth Annual Champions Dinner in May 2025. Dave and Chris Scheck were the grateful recipients of the Champion’s Award. This year marks the inaugural presentation of this award. Chris Scheck served as a volunteer Board Member of the YMCA for nine years, including four years as President of the Board.
LED Rite contributed LED Backlit Thin Panel Lighting, recessed LED Can Lighting, LED Sports Lighting, and LED Linear Lighting, along with controls. Their generous donation supported the YMCA’s $12 million renovation in 2024. Moreover, LED Rite applied for and secured ComED Small Business Energy Incentives on behalf of the YMCA. APA’s donated LED solutions enabled the YMCA to save over $100,000 on the construction contract.
The BR Ryall YMCA offers numerous services to families and communities in the Western Chicago Suburbs. Programs include Parkinson’s classes, preschool, and teen mental health initiatives. The YMCA’s newly renovated facility has led to a twofold increase in community engagement and participation.
